Hello Copic readers! In our previous blog, we discussed the basics of how to use acrea. In today’s blog, we’ll discuss the acrea color range and introduce 4 ways you can use these new paint markers. And with that, let’s get started by taking a look at the color chart below!
Above are the 24 Copic acrea colors, which can be broken down into 4 groups of 6 colors as seen below in their debut sets: Light, Vivid, Deep and Essentials. As mentioned in our previous blog, acrea ink is fully opaque and water-proof once the ink has dried. With fully opaque ink, acrea is capable of working on a variety of surfaces and surface colors.
Notice how, in the color charts above, each marker color is swatched on both a white and a black background. This is to show how versatile acrea ink is! It can be used on white, tan, gray, black, and any other color of paper. It can also be used on more than just paper, such as glass, wood, plastic, stone, fabric, canvas and more. The ink of the acrea marker sits on the surface of whatever it’s being drawn, written or doodled on, meaning that it doesn’t require an absorbent substrate to function (whereas alcohol markers do).

Acrea can also be used with alcohol markers, as seen in the below left image. With alcohol markers being highly absorbent, we recommend using them first and acrea second/last. The same idea applies to using acrea on top of alcohol ink, shown in the bottom right image. Once the alcohol ink has fully dried, it’s safe to add acrea. Acrea Gold really pops in contrast to the Copic Ink BV29 color used in the painting!

And with that, we wrap up today’s blog! For more information on the basics of Copic acrea, please download the above PDF. This PDF includes simple how-to-use instructions, the full acrea color chart, and shares the 4 different ways you can use acrea, as mentioned in today’s blog.
